Zisha pots are handmade from soft clay, a special type of soil from the Yixing region (Jiangsu, China), purple in color, fired at high temperature (about 1000 degree C), unglazed. Because the pot is unglazed, it will retain the natural osmosis between the brewed tea water and the soil.
The difference of Zisha teapots comes from the skillful warming techniques of the artisans. Depending on each artisan, soil treatment techniques, kiln making and firing techniques have resulted in different Zisha tea pots. But the most special and highly appreciated is still the ingenuity in shaping the kettle by molding and beating, without using a turntable, truly achieving the beauty of a high-level artist.
